Paradis des Indiens has been involved in Abricots since 1975 when it established one primary school.   Soon after, several workshops were created to include arts and crafts, embroidery, woodworking, beekeeping and fruit drying in order to provide work for its former students.   In 1996, Paradis des Indiens started the construction of a series of 11 smaller schools (scattered over the entire region) in remote areas throughout the commune of Abricots.  The primary goal of Paradis des Indiens is to educate, however over the years it has also provided a number remunerative work for most of its graduates.  The ultimate goal of the Foundation is to empower the people of Abricots to achieve both financial independence and self- sufficiency through entrepreneurial development.
